Why to pray the "Word of the Lord" 1. To be effective in Prayer we must have confidence! 1 John 5 v 14:

We will submit to you that the Kingdom of God has an order! It is built on spiritual laws and natural laws. When we don't obey the law we cause our selves many a problem. There is a law of gravity. If we don't obey the law of gravity and jump off a high building without a net below or a parachute, we have problems! Don't we? Of course we do! The same is true of our prayer life. There is an order! There is a law of intercession. When we don't obey these laws we are ineffective in doing what we are called to do. May I explain? We want to understand the laws that govern the Kingdom of God! We want to know God's way of doing things! We want to understand His method of operation! Doesn't this make sense? Of course. That's is how Jesus taught us to pray right? Matthew 6 v 10 "Your Kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Kingdom in the original =G932 βασιλεία basileia or bas-il-i'-ah From G935; properly royalty, that is, (abstractly) rule, or (concretely) a realm (literally or figuratively): - kingdom, + reign. To me this is the top law! Or we are praying in the Lord's prayer. "Father your law come" or "your rule come" or "your reign come". Ok? *Will in the original = G2307 θέλημα thelēma orthel'-ay-mah From the prolonged form of G2309; a determination (properly the thing), that is, (actively) choice (specifically purpose, decree; abstractly volition) or (passively) inclination: - desire, pleasure, will. I want you to notice that the *will of God is a thing. Or "Father Your thing be done on earth". Will you buy this? Great! I believe when we truly understand Kingdom as law or rule and we understand will as God's thing, then we can be real effective with our prayers. Let me explain further. 1 Samuel 3 v 17
To prove my case, thing in the original = H1697 דּבר dâbâr or daw-bawr' From H1696; a word; by implication a matter (as spoken of) of thing; adverbially a cause: - act, advice, affair, answer, X any such (thing), + because of, book, business, care, case, cause, certain rate, + chronicles, commandment, X commune (-ication), + concern [-ing], + confer, counsel, + dearth, decree, deed, X disease, due, duty, effect, + eloquent, errand, [evil favoured-] ness, + glory, + harm, hurt, + iniquity, + judgment, language, + lying, manner, matter, message, [no] thing, oracle, X ought, X parts, + pertaining, + please, portion, + power, promise, provision, purpose, question, rate, reason, report, request, X (as hast) said, sake, saying, sentence, + sign, + so, some [uncleanness], somewhat to say, + song, speech, X spoken, talk, task, + that, X there done, thing (concerning), thought, + thus, tidings, what [-soever], + wherewith, which, word, work. In other words if God said it, it was or became a thing! Right? Of course. All words are things and all things are words! Are we on the same page so far? We learn that it is very important what things or words we speak. Why are they so important? 1 Samuel 16 v 18
He said David "the man after God's own heart" was understanding of his speech! We know that in Hosea 4 v 6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because you have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you, that you shall be no priest to me: seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, We know that in Proverbs 3 v 19
How did the Lord found the earth? Genesis 1 v 3 " Then God said"! Proverbs 4 v 7
This is why we want to pray the Word of the Lord. Wisdom is the principal thing or word and with this wisdom we want understanding of why we are speaking what we are speaking so that we will have confidence in our prayers being answered. If we don't we could ask a miss. God's way of doing things is based upon His laws. One such law is the law of Seed Time and Harvest. Please understand that Romans 14 v4:
The word is written down for us so that we should not miss our calling and loose hope. No harvest can ever come without a seed or substance. Radio waves have substance. We know that they are there yet we can't see them. Our words also have substance. We cannot see them until harvest time comes. In order to plant good word seeds, we need to locate in the Word of the Lord a Word for our need. When we have God's Word on the subject then we can plant the right seed that will bring the harvest that we desire. Remember a seed will always produce a corresponding action. It is a law. Corn seed can never produce cotton! Thanksgiving cannot produce lack! Hateful words cannot produce peace and so on. Therefore when we have a need we should always go to the Bible or our concordance and find a Word seed to plant that will address what God says about that need. Then we should meditate on that Word until it is part of us! That is to speak or mutter that Word until out of our belly it flows freely. When that happens there will be a harvest. It is a law! Poverty is lack. Poverty comes when we don't understand what God has said about it and thus we lack in that knowledge of what to pray. Friends the law of faith governs the kingdom of God. Romans 3 v27. There can be no faith without the Word of the Lord being spoken or planted. Now for faith to work the law of Love must be in force. God is Love! It is impossible for God to lie. Hebrews 6 v 18, Romans 13 v 10 says love works no ill to his neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Galatians 5 v6 but faith working through love. Luke 10 v 27 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul (mind, will and emotions), and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. When we do this we will be saying things God's way. Romans 8 v 7 says it is impossible for us to do this in our natural state of mind.
This is a mind set that is in opposition to the Word or Law of God! The world says seeing is believing. God's system, manner of operation says calling those things which be not as though they were. Romans 4 v17. God's system says Believing is seeing! That is when we meditate or mutter or speak out loud long enough for the word to become flesh and dwell amongst us. Then we are told how to be changed Romans 12 v 2
We are told in Psalm 45 v1 My heart is stirred by a noble theme as I recite my verses for the king; my tongue is the pen of a skillful writer. Proverbs 3 says write them on the tablet of your heart. Psalm 1 says in verse 2 But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates or mutters day and night. Joshua 1 v 8 says
Join us now as we commit to praying the Word of the Lord over the Land! Let's frame our world with His Words. Let's choose carefully the Words we speak and pray. God does not bless or give to us what we deserve or think is good. But God gives to us by spiritual laws that he set into existence. If we are ignorant of these laws then the manifestation which comes from them will be missed. My people perish for lack of knowledge. When we were saved we were given all right to use these spiritual laws. Mark 11 v 23 clearly says: For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. Let's say and pray exactly what God says about the situation. Ok? Let's teach others how important it is to understand the laws that govern the Kingdom of God. Let's remind each other of God's way of doing things! Amen. So be it! |
